The Barkitwear® P-Suit™ for Dogs can be a very useful training tool to help stop your dog from marking or peeing in the house. Here are some training suggestions for how you can get the most of your Barkitwear® P-Suit™:

Example #1:

Put your dog or dogs in Barkitwear® P-Suits™ for Dogs to immediately stop further urine marking in the house. At night, turn off all lights in your house and use a black light to scan for urine markings. It is important analyze your entire house–even areas that you don’t suspect as marking locations–in order to get a full understanding of where your dogs are marking. Use a black light to locate and take note of all urine markings you find. They will appear when illuminated by the black light.  Afterwards, take one of your dogs out of his or her Barkitwear® P-Suit™ for a couple of days, and then scan your house again at night with a black light. If you notice fresh urine marks, then you’ve identified the urine marker and can train accordingly. Repeat the process with the rest of your dogs.

Example #2:

Put your dog or dogs in Barkitwear® P-Suits™ to immediately stop further urine marking in the house. At night, turn off the lights in your house and use a black light to scan for urine marks. Make note of any locations where you’ve found marking to have occurred. During the day, place treats at locations where your dog has previously marked, as well as in locations he or she typically marks. Your dog might begin to associate these locations as sources of food instead of marking. Take the Barkitwear® P-Suit™ off of your dog for a couple of weeks, and then put it back on. Scan locations where treats have been placed at night with a black light to see if your dog’s marking habits have changed.

Example #3:

Provide your dog with an acceptable target for marking outdoors, such as a tree trunk. Expose your dog to something that would stimulate marking–such as the scent of another dog’s urine–and take him to your chosen target. Let your dog mark at the acceptable target, and reward him or her with treats for doing so. Take your dog back indoors and put the Barkitwear® P-Suit™ for Dogs on in case he tries to mark in the house. Keep repeating until you notice your dog starting to consistently mark outside.

Before using the Barkitwear® P-Suit™ for Dogs as a training aid for dog marking, be sure to consult with your veterinarian to rule out other possible health issues.
